Dreary day, Lace Top

blouse: Express; pants: NY&Co.; maryjanes: Nine West

Another dreary day in Texas with ominous clouds across the sky. Extremely humid which made for frizzy hair, and I haven't been feeling well lately. :(

I bought this top at Express. It's silk which I love and it has lace on the top and the bottom, very feminine. I wanted to wear light pants because I was tired of all the dark colors, so I found this pair of NY and Co. that I bought a while back. Unfortunately, they don't have pockets so I had to carry my iPhone with me all day. I have these Nine West suede maryjanes in several colors. Love them! I had a long beaded necklace on with this outfit but I took it off during lunch and forgot to put it back on. Hmmph!

Memorial Day

silk blouse: F21; skirt: Express; wedges: Steve Madden

I was having a bad hair day and make-up day, but I still really liked my outfit today. I was trying to find a way to wear red, white, and blue without being too bold. After trying on a couple of white blazers, I remembered I had this blouse and thought it went perfect with the skirt. The wedges kept my feet comfy after walking around all day.

I attended a touching Memorial Ceremony today honoring our brave soldiers. I also remembered my grandfather who was a war veteran. Thank you to all our troops for all that they do.

Lady Like

Wrap blouse: Express; slacks: NY&Co.; heels: Betsey Johnson; pearls: Gifted

There's something about wearing a set of pearls that just makes you feel very lady-like. I have this wrap shirt from Express in several colors. And these blue satin heels put a kick in my step. They have the cutest pink soles.

It was so humid today I had to put my hair in a bun to avoid the frizzies, since my beloved blue Chi flat iron died on me. The on/off switch just broke off. So sad! I'm using a huge old one from Sally's. It just doesn't have the same sleek effect, plus it takes forever to heat up. Guess I will be on the hunt for a new flat iron.

Flower Power

Skirt: Old Navy; blouse: Express; Shoes: Steve Madden; bracelet: F21

Sorry for not posting in a looooong time. I've been super busy. I'm trying to incorporate more prints into my wardrobe because I tend to go for solids. This skirt intrigued me and I thought the design on it was beautiful. Perfect for the warm weather!

I had to do a close-up of my bracelet because it has such a great whimsical appeal that it brightens my day looking at it. My hubby joked that it looks like a crystal ball. Too bad it doesn't really reveal the future!!

Mustard, Please!

Sweater, blouse, skirt: Express; heels: Nine West; jewelry- gifted

Wow, it's been a busy couple of weeks. No time for fashion for me! But hopefully, I will have a bit more time to relax and catch up on my fashion fun!

I've been dying to wear this ruffled skirt from Express for weeks, but wasn't sure what to wear it with. I've seen a lot of fashionistas wearing it with a green sweater a la Gwen's LAMB collection. Alas, I have no such sweater in my closet yet. But this cashmere cardigan in mustard seemed to suffice. Of course, I had the perfect yellow platform pumps that don't ever really see the light of day too much. Overall, I was pleased with my look today.

Kinda Kelly

Skirt: Forever 21; Top: Mossimo (Target); Shoes: Bakers; Bangle and Belt: Banana Republic
I have to confess that I am a huge fan of Kelly Ripa, and although I never get to watch Live! I love keeping up with what Kelly is wearing on her Fashion Finder Video Blog. After every taping, she is filmed showing off what she is wearing and wear it's from. I try to watch at least once a week. I love how she combines basic pieces with a bit of flair, while still looking oh so put together. She is definitely one of my fashion inspirations.
Most of her outfits are utterly stylish, yet office appropriate. I was channeling one of her basic black skirt paired with flowy top outfits when I put this look together. Of course, she is never without her platform pumps. And I am in love with these shoes that I bought from Bakers awhile back. I wasn't sure what to wear them with for the longest time, and then just figured they'd be the perfect touch with this outfit. I'm trying to come up with other outfits to wear them with because I think they're super fab, and they are actually very comfortable.

Texas Monthly- Style of Texas article and my teal t-straps

Yes, we may live in the great state of Texas, but we don't all wear cowboy boots (all the time)! The March issue of Texas Monthly takes an in-depth look at Texas Style. From our wide-brimmed hats to gaudy "quince" dresses, everything is bigger in Texas. My favorite article in the issue lists the 30 Texans who changed the look of our state.

Although I was surprised by some of the choices, (Davy Crockett, Willie Nelson) here are some of my favorite style icons that made the list.

Ann Richards- The tough as nails governor once told former first lady, Hilary Clinton, that when it comes to hair, you either go big or go home!

Farrah Fawcett- A native of Corpus Christi (:D) and UT grad (Hook 'em Horns); Before becoming a Charlie's Angel, she was named most beautiful in high school. The ubiquitous poster of Ms. Fawcett sporting nothing more than a red one-piece bathing suit, with her hair fabulously feathered, has graced more walls than any other.

Selena- The raven haired-beauty, whom J.Lo immortalized in the film bearing her name, brought sex appeal to Tejano music and was poised to become a crossover star before her untimely death. The Corpus native designed many of her body-hugging sequined performance outfits and inspired many girls to embrace their curves.

Eva Longoria Parker has come a long way from being referred to as "la prieta fea" which means the "ugly dark one. This former Miss Corpus Christi continues to heat up the silver screen as Gabi on Desperate Housewives. She's also topped several "sexiest" lists in the past years.
And Ms. Sasha Fierce herself, Beyonce, is named, too. The House of Dereon designer is also the girl who introduced the world to the term "bootylicious." 'Nuff said. These are two stars who aren't afraid to to go after what they want and look good while their getting it.

There's an eclectic group of Texans examined in this article, and it made my day just reading it.

On a side note, I had the Monday blues today and wasn't inspired to throw on anything remotely fashionable today, but my velvetty t-strap pumps made for a less gloomy day. ;)
